Who is this chick?
I am a mother first and an accountant by trade – but I’m a writer at heart. The writing’s the thing – that thing that inspires, that drives, that obsesses me. There are stories in my head, characters in my heart. Maybe if I spill them onto the page my brain will make room for the simple stuff. Like, what do you call that thing you use to eat with? Oh yeah, a fork.
In this modern world you can’t just write, can’t just be an author. You have to blog and tweet and all manner of other activities that put you in a place I’ve always loathed. “Out there.” Who wants to be out there, when it’s so nice and cozy in here? Inside my shell, warm in my nest, where I am invisible and can create any number of alternate worlds. Worlds full of wonderfully imperfect people of my own making. Worlds full of crazy and scary and dangerous and fun situations that I would never find myself in because I love my nest, love my shell, and had always hoped to remain within them.
“Crack.” My shell has been breached. I have emerged. Here I am. Out there.
My one hope is that when I spread my wings and take this leap, my feathers catch air and I will soar. Or at least not crash to the ground in a heap of twisted bird’s feet with my beak disjointed and sitting askew atop a pile of broken wings, while feathers float down and bury the remains of my dreams.
I’ve joined you all out there to share my complete lack of expertise with anyone who wants to kill a little time on this site. I will blog about everything. Or nothing in particular. I will delve into the slim pickings of my brain and try to entertain, inform, or just plain provide a place to suck time from your day. Hopefully it’s a time-suck you will enjoy. Along the way I hope to share some of my musings with you. Perhaps let you know of books or products or other blogs and sites that have caught my eye, that maybe you will appreciate too.
Welcome to the flock, the gaggle, the peep, the mumuration, the watch, the wedge, the wisp or the murder, depending on which bird you are! Feel free to peck around.
