Sometimes you hit a snag. Life throws you off course, takes the wind out of your sails and throws a spanner in the works. A doozy of a damn spanner.
Hell, sometimes life just plain blows.
When worse comes to worst, when you’ve been handed the short straw, it’s time to open a can of whoop ass. Because when it comes down to brass tacks, my family has hoed our share of tough rows. We’ve hit the bump in the road and sailed right over it.
If it’s not one thing it’s another. But just when you think you’re ass out, you decide to turn the other cheek. To look at the bright side. To fight the good fight. And knock on wood, I’ve got a good feeling that beating it is in the bag.
Is it a blessing in disguise?
Hell no.
Will it be a piece of cake?
Not in a million years.
Time to cut to the chase. No more beating around the bush. It’s no cock and bull. Here’s the rub.
My sister has been diagnosed with stage four metastatic breast cancer.
To make a long story short, sometimes life blows. It blows chunks. No wonder I drink like a fish.

Sending healing thoughts to your entire family, Julie — sometimes when life sends you lemons, it just plain sucks.
Thank you Mikalee. Yes, it can do that. I’d rather have lemonade…
So sorry about your family tragedy. And Stage 4. Bah!
Keep us updated on how she/you manage things.
Thanks Jo Anne. I’ll do that.
That’s worse than sucks. That’s worse than blows. I’ve got no words at all, but I am so very saddened to hear it.
It’s like a very bad vacuum. Sucks and blows at the same time. Thanks Jessie.
That is horrible news… I am so sorry! Sending good thoughts and healing vibes yours and your sister’s way.
We’ll take all the positive stuff we can get Megan. Thanks so much.
Oh, Julie. I was beginning to wonder why you hadn’t blogged in a while. So sorry to hear that. Sending tons of good vibes.
Thanks Jen. Appreciate good vibrations… And I haven’t forgotten your book.
JB, that is seriously tough news. How is sis doing? I’m sure you all are supporting her.
Thoughts and prayers, my friend!
Thanks MJ. She is determined to fight. And yes, she is supported from all angles, family and friends and the medical community. Which she should be, since they dropped the ball initially.
Julie, what horrible news. I cannot imagine this. It sucks. I’m holding you all in the Light, as the Shakers used to say. And let me know if you’re up for some wine at Chop…
Thanks Leanne. Wine at Chop (and onion rings) sounds great, but maybe in September. I am eyeball deep in writing camp in August.
I’m so sorry I missed this post – sending you my love and support now, as I’m sure it’s still needed. ((HUGS))
Thanks, Heather. Yes, still needed. Always needed
