I am shocked to discover that I’ve never announced my latest novel on my very own blog. Maybe because of the shitstorm that life became shortly after its release… Whatever the reason – whoops!
Pocketful of Bones, novel number five, is a dark little number, filled with some sexy, creepy, bloody stuff. It is polarizing readers, with a five star review followed by a one star and bouncing back to five again. What are Amazon.com readers saying?
5 stars, Eager Reader – “The story pulled me along its twisted road. There are no heroes or heroines, only victims, and that might include the two main characters. As I was getting ready to write a few reviews of recently read books, I realized I couldn’t remember the other plots, but I remembered Pocketful of Bones.”
1 star, Cindy – “Sick and twisted.”
5 stars, CK – “Disturbing, dark, horrifying…………but I couldn’t put it down. What an imagination this author has!”
1 star, Amazon customer – “This book should be rated R. It is almost pornographic. Will not read any more books by this author. Story line could have been good without the sex and dirty language.”
You get the idea… If you know me, or have read my stories, you know there is profanity. You know there is sex. And you know there is death. Even if you haven’t read them, it’s right there in the description, in the “look inside” preview. I guess folks just don’t take the time to look.
Here are a couple of my favourite reviews.
Charles Deluca – “The creepiest thing I’ve read in years. honestly, it’s so incredibly vivid, somebody should check out this lady’s back yard.” (I assure you, there’s only grass in need of cutting and some dog shit back there).
Steven Ramirez – “Pocketful of Bones is a quiet story in the way Psycho and The Lottery are quiet. . . as the bodies piled up in Pocketful of Bones, I was surprised at the logic and—dare I suggest it?—the correctness of it. The story unfolds as though Fate itself were guiding mother and son to their inescapable destinies. And along the way, they planted the annuals. . . If you’re looking for a satisfying read that both perplexes and horrifies in a Canadian sort of way, I suggest you read this book.”
Love it or hate it, it’s all good. If you read it, please leave a review.

And let me know what you thing…
Julie, your books always enthrall. Mazie Baby knocked my socks off. Pocketful of Bones kept me on the edge of my chair–with all of the lights on! IMO, you out write Steven King. You can tell a story like few others.
As for the one star reviews. Are your books sick? Yep. Are your books full of profanity? Yep. Beautifully done? Yep, because they touch the dark within us all. Hugs, Jackie Weger
Wow. Out-write SK? Now THAT is the best compliment EVER! Thanks so much, Jackie. xo
