I’ve been posting a lot about Mom and Alzheimer’s lately. Probably because it seems to be taking over my life. And apparently, it’s contagious (seriously, I can’t remember the simplest things). So for a break, how about back to the writing?
I am struggling to find the time to dive into novel number five. So instead of beating myself up over it, I break up the dementia side of life with the occasional bit of short fiction. And now there is a great place to highlight that fiction, and for readers to find some quick, cheap, reads.
A quarter can’t buy much these days. A phone call at a pay phone. Assuming you can even find a phone booth. A gumball perhaps. Some service stations will let you fill your tires for twenty-five cents, though most places you need two quarters. Some a whole loonie. For air. For a minutes worth of that free stuff that floats around your head.
Well, a quarter can now buy you a whole world. A wonderful story. An emotional experience. Twenty-five pennies can now buy you a great read.
It’s this new site called Quarter Reads (get it?). Authors submit their work and, if approved, it is added to the site’s roster of fiction. You can search by author, by tag word, by genre. And they offer a free story every once in a while to those who subscribe. And it only costs 25 little cents per story.
If you love short fiction, or just need to take a break from your day without spending seven bucks on a cup of coffee, head on over and get your reading fill.
And maybe look me up? Here, I’ll make it easy on you… Click on this:
